Prior to the 2010-2011 school year, schools received performance labels based on a star system (Performance Label — School Performance Score):
- Academically Unacceptable — Below 60.0
- Academic Watch — 60.0-74.9
- One Star — 60.0-79.9
- Two Stars — 80.0-99.9
- Three Stars — 100.0-119.9
- Four Stars — 120.0-139.9
- Five Stars — 140.0 and above
Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, Louisiana began assigning districts and schools letter grades. Letter grades correspond to Baseline School Performance Scores, and are based on the following grading scale (Letter Grade — SPS Range — Approx. % of Students Below Basic):
- A — 120.0-200.0 — 0-12%
- B — 105.0-119.9 — 13-24%
- C — 90.0-104.9 — 25-36%
- D — 65.0-89.9 (in 2011), 75.0-89.9 (in 2012) — 37-61%
- F — 0-64.9 (in 2011), 0.0-74.9 (in 2012) — 62-100%
